If you take a loot at the June 20, 2022 cover of New York Magazine you will see a familiar sight. Essentially a riff on the “Separated” series from 2021 with the addition of a skateboard, the front page image is in reference to “The Story of a Canceled Teen”, a story of teenage justice and a canceled teen.
KAWS has said that part of the reason he agreed to do the cover art for this issue is because the article really spoke to him as a parent and the complexities his children will have to face as they mature in this tech saturated society.
